Navigation — Trips¶
Overview¶
The Navigation module lets you plan and manage Trips for the AXITRAQ Navigator iPad app: named routes from a departure point to a destination, with optional waypoints, vehicle specs from an Asset, employee assignment, and an advisory NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) suitability check.
Trips assigned to employees can be selected on the Navigator tablet. On selection the trip is stored on the device so navigation, waypoints, and proximity notes work offline. Photos and memos captured in-route are company records (never personal).
The sidebar Navigation Editor (menu customisation) is a different feature. This module is Navigation → Trips.
Access & permissions¶
| Permission | Access |

Owners and managers receive new permission sections automatically; other users need an explicit grant.
Creating a trip¶
- Open Navigation → Trips → New Trip.
- Enter a name, optional schedule, notes, and status (
Draft/Scheduled/ …). - Select an Asset (vehicle). Navigator vehicle specs (length, height, GVM, class) are snapshotted onto the trip.
- Optionally link a Client and/or Job.
- Assign one or more Employees — only they will see the trip on the Navigator iPad.
- Click Save.
Building the route¶
- Search an Australian address — it pins on the map — then click Set Origin, Add Waypoint, or Set Destination. The search clears so you can add the next stop immediately.
- Or click the map and choose Origin / Waypoint / Destination from the popup.
- Stops appear in the Stops list (Origin, WP 1…, Dest). Use ↑ / ↓ to reorder waypoints, or × to remove.
- Click Reroute (or Compute route the first time) to generate the driving path and per-stop ETAs. After you change stops, a banner prompts you to Reroute now.
- Shift+click the map, or click the blue route line, to add a proximity note. These notes appear as bubbles in Navigator when the vehicle approaches that point.
NHVR check (advisory)¶
After a route is computed, click Check NHVR. AXITRAQ samples the route against heavy-vehicle network layers and shows Suitable / Caution / Unsuitable / Unavailable.
This is indicative only. Always confirm approved networks and permits with the NHVR Route Planner and relevant state road managers before travel. AXITRAQ does not issue access permits.
Navigator iPad¶
- Requires the Navigator tablet add-on (per iPad/tablet device — not phones).
- Open My Trips, search, and select a trip — it downloads for offline use.
- Proximity notes show as approach bubbles.
- Use Memo (text or voice→text) and Photo while in-route; both sync as company artefacts when online and can be seen by other company users near that location.
